Stephen R. Vadney

Financial Advisor, Registered Principal

I’m Steve Vadney, an independent financial advisor. I have lived in the Capital Region all of my life, growing up with three brothers and working-class parents. My father was a special education teacher in the city of Albany and worked multiple jobs to provide for his family. My mother, also a teacher, left the workforce early to raise four sons. The value of hard work, education and family was instilled in me from a young age. I entered the financial services industry during my college years in order to pay the bills.

Nearly two decades later, I’ve made it my career and passion to help people feel confident in their financial situation and give security to their families. I began in banking where I was able to assist clients with budgeting, cash flow, and lending needs before transitioning into a wealth management division.

From there I worked at an insurance company – managing down-side risk and its financial impact. Those experiences allow me to view a client’s financial picture from a 360° angle, and create a comprehensive plan.

Since 2017, I have been part of Halliday Financial Solutions – partnering with an advisory team that has more than 95 years of combined financial services experience. Halliday Financial, founded by a collegiate professor, is deeply rooted in education. It is not by accident that I was drawn to this firm. I have assumed a leading role in Halliday’s Adult Continuing Education program – providing financial literacy courses and workshops at many local school districts, libraries, and not-for-profit organizations.

Our clients achieve a sense of peace, security, and fulfillment through successful financial planning, budgeting, saving and investing. Giving back to my community is very important to me. I currently sit on the Associate Board of Ambassadors for the American Cancer Society, am a committee member of Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar, and a member of the Troy Kiwanis Club. In 2016, I had the privilege of serving as the Lieutenant Governor of the Van Rensselaer Kiwanis Division. I’m also a volunteer and supporter of the Regional Food Bank, Bus Stop Club, and Habitat for Humanity Capital District. Today, I remain committed to educating, engaging, and inspiring as many people as possible to take control of their financial future. Contact me today to start or continue your journey.
