CUNY Retirement Services
Over the next few months, you will be receiving information from CUNY regarding changes to your Optional Retirement Plan 401A (ORP) and your voluntary savings Tax-Deferred Annuity 403B (TDA) accounts.
Beginning January 2017, TIAA will be the sole record keeper of contributions for your ORP and TDA plans. This means your future contributions to your ORP and TDA accounts will be directed into accounts at TIAA. Additional changes to these accounts will include access to high-quality, well diversified investments that were not previously available, and a Roth option within the TDA program.
CUNY has also recognized the importance of Halliday Financial as an independent, trusted resource serving the CUNY faculty and staff since 1984. Halliday Financial will retain our position as your advisor, and will continue to provide you with educational support, customized advice, and individual guidance supporting you and your family’s important financial planning goals. There is no need to change your current ORP and TDA accounts managed by Halliday Financial. These accounts will remain active, but will no longer have the ability to accept new contributions.
Additionally, under these new changes, Halliday Financial will take on an expanded role with the opportunity to serve as a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) for your TIAA ORP and TDA accounts. This independent service provides comprehensive financial planning consistent with your current and future goals and investment management on the new CUNY/TIAA platform.
Your dedicated Halliday Financial advisor will be scheduling time to meet with you individually to make sure your important questions are clearly answered, you understand your options, and you are making smart decisions in the best interest of your financial goals.
